Dear All,

after a long period of evaluation we put together a team of developers willing to complete and update the Linux drivers for FireDTV / FloppyDTV.

As soon as the drivers work in a satisfactory way, they will be published under GPL.

A schedule for release has not been fixed yet and an announcement will follow on this forum and the digital everywhere home page.

digital everywhere will support the development team to reach the best result as possible but we cannot offer to give support to end users of the drivers.

Users having comments, requirements and special questions can use this Forum to inform the developers.

We wish to thank all the people which showed interest for linux drivers in the past and the development team which is carrying on the job.

TheMec

Great news, this means that I'll probably buy your DVB-C solution for my upcoming HTPC based on Mythbuntu. I trust that you are aware that you can get your drivers developed for free as described here --> http://www.kroah.com/log/linux/free_drivers.html

Good to hear! I am offering myself as a victim for testing with an unexperienced Linux user, if it would be of any help ;)

Wow, thank you very much! That's great to hear! :) I don't think end-user support is that important, Linux users are used to figuring out how stuff works.. glad to hear, that you're developing GPL drivers. I guess that means, once they are released (and maybe get into the kernel), they will always improve as others can contribute, once the basics are there and working. :)

Just tested a patch (march 2008) to the old experimental Firesat driver, builds and loads fine on a Ubuntu 32 and 64bit system. The Floppydtv S2 is detected fine, driver logging successful initialization. Tried scanning for channels but no luck, but the driver is logging the switching commands and scans. The core of the code looks to be done. So we could see a beta release this summer?

That's brilliant news indeed!

I'll be sure to recommend FireDTV to my friends when the drivers are available. :D

This is really great. The missing link will finally be there. Count me in for beta testing. I've been using this card for quite some time now and it's absolutely great. The best program i used with my floppyDTV is dvb viewer. absolutely brilliant piece of software(this is no advertising i just want everybody to stop searching for software and try dvbviewer.... believe me i've tried them all).My machine is a bit slower as the average so adding linux support would be great. If these drivers are finished i will immediately go tot linux media center.
