How to FireDTV on Ubuntu 9.04

Requirements

* Ubuntu 9.04 http://releases.ubuntu.com/jaunty/
* Use KernelCheck Kernel Tuning/Builder (Really easy way)

* GCC 4.2 and 4.3 - 2.6.29 Kernel Installed from Deb and Kernel Headers and Source.
http://www.ramoonus.nl/2009/03/24/linux ... ian-linux/

1. From Shell.....install KernelCheck Advanced (Development)

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=618563

2. Run Sudo KernelCheck

3. Check Sources and Updates. Next

4. Select Custom Build 2.6.29 without Patches or any extras....will start downloading etc (If you are using Nvidia select to add nvidia)

5. after a few mintes, Kernel Settings screen, look for DVB Cards. Find Firedtv and tick and save. Close the settings screen.

6. Waiting 2 hours as it builds the new kernel

7. Finally Install the Kernel to Grub using the option 3 way merge. (I assume you all have are using the menu.lst, not hiding it)

8. Reboot

9. Thats it.....Install kaffeine or whatever and you should get the dvb option. If not check with modprobe firedtv -l

Away you go.

It did work sure of it...............last night it tuned fine. Now I get

"Not able to lock to the signal on the given frequency"

Hmmmmm....rebooted into 2.6.30-rc4 and it works again...........then back to 2.6.29 and it doesn't. wtf.

Right....going to try to get nvidia working on 30.rc-4.....

Forget 2.6.29 use 2.6.30-rc4 works fine. Used 180.51 nvidia drivers. and all is well....
