Hi,

I have installed the driver on Kubuntu 8.04 with 2.6.27-rc5 and the compiling and patching goes smoothly. But when I try to scan or tune it seems like the firewire bus messes up.
When I scan directly after a reboot the scan runs perfectly and I find all the channels available, but if I run the scan once more it says either:
Resource busy or unavailable.
I run plugreport and see that it can't read from oPCR and the other one.
Then I start gscanbus and do a reset of the firewire bus, in gscanbüs the device changes from unknown to Digital Everywhere. Everything looks ok again.
I run plugreport once more and now it reports correct values for the device.
If I then start a new scan it will find some channels before it starts reporting:
22 Invalid argument or
DMX_SET_FILTER(??) error or
Resource busy.
Then I have to start all over again and reset the bus with gscanbus.

I have also tried the "firewire_tester" that comes with mythtv and the strange thing is that it can work just fine. Sending and receiving 50 times and it doesn't fail once.

I currently have dual boot and in Vista everything works fine. No disrupts on the device.

Has anyone seen this problem with your device?
Some firewire drivers i have missed or are there some settings to be done?

I have now tried to run firedtv with 2.6.29 kernel, but I still have the same problem as before. When scanning in Kaffeine it works fine for a few seconds, and then I get these messages:

I've tried both my firewire ports, but none works. Still having dual boot with Vista, and in Vista everything works fine.

Hi, again.

After some testing on the 2.6.30-rc5 kernel I started looking for general problems with firewire. What I noticed was that the VIA chipset is not great to use with Linux.

I went out and bought a FireWire controller card with the NEC chipset and now it works perfectly. No problems at all, except that I got quite a dodgy picture, but there are probably some settings that I need to change.

The VIA chipset I had:
05:03.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6306 Fire II IEEE 1394 OHCI Link Layer Controller (rev c0)
