Hi!
I'm looking at buying some second hand firedtv T/CI cards,
for use with Boxer in Sweden.
To my delight, I see that the drivers are in the kernel (mythbuntu 9.10),
and that the drivers are being actively maintained,
but I wonder some about mpg2/mpg4 support.

From digital everywhere's site I see this

Quote:
Mpeg4/H.264 Software decoder from Main Concept are also included for Full HD experience.

Does this mean that it can handle the new format that will be effective from feb 1 2010?

Or should I go for something else (what then?)

/Björn

Free-to-air h264 encoded channels work for me with FireDTV-C/CI. As mentioned in the other thread, I don't have a CAM, hence can't test encrypted channels. I also can't test FireDTV-T/CI with HD channels since there are only SD channels on air here. But I expect FireDTV-T/CI to work just as well as -C/CI.

Though kaffeine does currently not play back audio of some HD channels (here: kaffeine-1.0_pre3 and xine-lib-1.1.17 of Gentoo), also not of recorded streams. But vlc has no such issues, neither live nor with recorded streams. The latter play back fine in SMPlayer and xine-ui too. I.e. this audio issue is obviously with this kaffeine prerelease, not with the hardware or driver.
