I believe that the reason why your are not getting any data from the card, Conny, is that the isochronous channel code is commented out in the patch you have been using. Take a look at my additional patch. It works fine for my DVB-T card (Boxer subscription). I have also added some CI support. It would be great to get some feedback on my changes.

Hi,

I have tried your patch, the one written for 2.6.26-rc8, but with no luck.
Patching and compiling worked just fine, but I'm not able to tune any channels. Using "scandvb -vvvvvv freqfile" always returns tuning status 0. I've been reading through the patch a bit but didn't really come to any conclusion.

I see now that you have made a new patch since I tried last time. From what you can guess of my problem, do you think I will have any better luck with this one?

Regards
Conny

I would not believe that the newer patch would give any more luck. From what I understand you have a DVB-C system. Could you please load the driver with the parameter avc_comm_debug=1 and post the output from the drivers in the log? It will dump all the AV/C communication as kernel logs.

While glancing a bit at the DVB-C code it seems like there might be some problem area with the AVC code. I don't like the flags.Bits.Modulation=0 indicating that the modulation won't be taken into accound during the tune. I can look into it some more, but please provide some logs, that would be helpful.

I did some changes to the tuning code (most important set the modulation flag). If you like, you can try out this patch instead. As with the other one, apply it after Greg's patch.

Let me know how it goes.

Alright, I tried it with your cable patch and now it seems to go a little further than before. This on FireDTV DVB-C 1.36.02, FW 2.4.0, Ubuntu 8.0.4.

Here are my results (still doesn't seem to be able to find any channels though, there should be several FTA.).

The problem was found to be a 64/32 bit issue, which caused all incoming isochronous data from the demuxer to be discarded by the driver. This has been corrected in a new patch available at the same location. Please give it a try if you have a 64-bit platform and trouble getting things to work.

I have also added som rudimentary CI MMI code as well as a DVB-C modulation correction.

Good news for the S2-owners.
If you have the most recent firmware (1.5.0), you can use this patch. DVB-S support is added with that patch.

You need windows for that. The firmware and updatetool itself can be found here.
